MARK / GIUSTI launches the “DEEP BLUE SEA” collection for SS2014 at international trade shows in June 2013.

The SS2014 “DEEP BLUE SEA” collection is inspired by the magical colors of the Mediterranean Sea that link Morocco to Spain. Morocco has long been famous for its Zellige Mosaic art, which is a terra cotta tile work, covered with enamel in the form of chips set into plaster. It is one of the main characteristics of the Moroccan architecture.

The “DEEP BLUE SEA” collection includes a mix of casual and classical pieces that includes weekend bags, business bags and small accessories with the introduction of a “scarves” category. The colors are rich and vibrant – dominated by various shades of blue, navy and turquoise. The primary leather  for this collection is grained Saffiano calf leather but Farhat, has also introduced several new materials that reflect the sea and the feeling of summer. This includes stingray, eel and a sandy-colored linen/viscose fabric that adds lightness and modernity to the pieces. Moreover, for the first time the materials for the linings of the bags have changed and Farhat is using a new organic hemp/ramie mix, which further emphasizes his dedication to ethics and sustainability.

MARK / GIUSTI’s signature fabric prints, used for all interior lining, continues to be derived from mosaics. Specifically for the new “DEEP BLUE SEA” collection, lining patterns are inspired from the original mosaic decorations found in the Attarine Medersa (Fez, Morrocco) built in XIIII century A.D. The Attarine Medersa, deep in the heart of the medina of Fez, was built by Sultan Abou Said Uthman in the early 1320s.

The zellige mosaics, worked plaster and carved olive wood, are incredibly delicate, and even though it’s packed with decoration, are balanced and subtle. Zellige making is considered an art in itself. This art is handed down from generation to generation by maâlems (master craftsmen). A long training regime starts from childhood in order to master these exceptional skills.

Assiduous attention to detail is critical to the process of creating zellige works and MARK/GIUSTI is proud to align its brand with the ethos of this ancient craftsmanship.

Corneliani’s expansion plan in the Asian giant carries on apace. With three autumn openings in Beijing, Changsha and Nanning, the Italian brand that is an international reference point for men’s fashion now has 34 single-brand stores in China.

In Beijing, the capital city and political centre of the country, Corneliani opened an important boutique at the beginning of September in the prestigious Charter Shopping Centre, a new landmark for high-end retail in the capital. At the Corneliani store customers are welcomed into a first room with the world of Corneliani accessories and the elegant Corneliani ID free time collection.

From here, a large doorway leads into the area dedicated to tailored clothing.

At the beginning of October the Nanning single-brand store opened: 225 m2 of the very best of Italian tradition in the new MixCity shopping mall. What catches the eye most at this store is the façade: two black leather walls with lines of stainless steel and backlit logos are fitted with large display screens broadcasting videos from the fashion shows.

On entering the boutique, a central display area invites customers to follow the store round in a circle, beginning with leather goods, then the Corneliani ID free time collection, and finally the impeccably sophisticated, elegant formalwear. Everything is housed and displayed in Tanganyika wood niches finished with beige suede and leather and ebony Macassar wood panelling.

As in other stores there is also an emblematic ebony weave wall, recalling the exceptional Italian quality that Corneliani offers in its exclusive Made to Measure area. Here customers can see a film on tailoring craftsmanship, as well as bunches of the most prestigious fabrics and the tools of the tailor’s trade.

The same details and spatial criteria are used for the selection of luxury Corneliani garments and accessories in the 180 m2 Changsha store. The city on the Xiangjiang River is an important centre for luxury goods and the boutique will turn on its lights for the first time in mid-November at the famous and highly prestigious Friendship Shopping Centre.

Corneliani, conveying tradition, quality and modernity as ever, continues to expand in the Chinese market. At the end of 2012 the flagship store owned by the Group will open in the city of Shanghai, China’s most important economic centre.
